Getting to Isla
This page has information on arriving at the Cancun airport and how to proceed to Isla Mujeres.
You must first fly into the Cancun airport. From the airport you will need transportation to one of the ferry locations that serve Isla Mujeres.
There are several ways to get from the Airport to the ferries. Taxis are always available and the price varies on number of passengers and bags. This is the most expensive way.
You can also use a private shuttle services like BestDay, Cancun Valet, or USA Transfers.
For budget minded travelers you can ride the ADO bus to the central Cancun terminal and transfer to a bus that runs to Puerto Juarez. The main bus goes to within about a mile and you have to transfer to a collectivo, which is a small van. Not too difficult but no for everyone. Definitely the most economical way to go.
Ferry Service to Isla Mujeres
The most popular one people use is the Ultramar Ferry at Puerto Juarez on the north side of Cancun.
Departures to Isla Mujeres every half hour from 5:00 am to 8:30 pm. and then 9:30 pm, 10:30 pm and 11:30 pm.
Departures returning to Puerto Juarez every half hour from 5:30 am to 9:00 pm and then 10:00 pm, 11:00 pm and 12:00 am.
Price is 70 pesos each way per person. You can purchase one way or round trip tickets. Purchase your tickets to the right as you face the water at Puerto Juarez. On Isla Mujeres, there is a little booth out near the street. YOU MUST PURCHASE BEFORE BOARDING.
Other ferry locations that have transportation to Isla Mujeres include:
Playa Tortuga, which is closer to Hotel row in Cancun and if you are coming from a hotel there would be a shorter ride to the ferry terminal.
Departures 9:00am, 10:00am, 11:00am, 12:00pm, 1:00pm, 2:00pm, 4:00pm, 5:00pm
Returning to Playa Tortuga 9:30am,10:30am,11:30am, 12:30pm,1:30pm,3:30pm,4:30pm, 5:30pm.
Price is $17 round trip per person.
Playa Caracol also in the Hotel Zone in Cancun
Departures 10:10am, 11:40am, 1:10pm, 4:50pm.
Returning to Playa Caracol 9:30am, 11:00am, 12:30pm, 4:00pm.
Price is $17 round trip per person

Other Ferry Options
Punta Sam - The Car ferry You can take this ferry even if you are just a passenger with no vehicle. Prices range for vehicle length and axels.
Magana ferry at Puerto Juarez - just a little north of the Ultramar ferry building, smaller boats with little or no outdoor seating. This was the only ferry available before Ultramar started service.
